Learning to Breathe, and Poopus Maximus
Well, before I tell you about Savannah's gigantic poop, let me say this.
The night before last, we went in and She started to de-sat, which means that her oxygen saturation levels went way down. Well, they went down further than I've ever seen it. I was terrified, but Angel was cool as a cucumber. The nurse couldn't explain it, and held a pure oxygen tube to her nose for an hour or so to get her to "come back". The problem was that she wasn't breathing deeply enough, she was breathing very shallow. She just would NOT breathe! It was extremely frustrating; there is nothing you can do except for watch it happen and hope she starts to breathe again. The nurse explained that now that she was so much weight (4'03" now) she is having a harder time breathing. She literally has to learn how to do it. Her respiratory indicators on the monitor were very shallow. I took pictures of the monitor at different stages to show you what I mean. I'll post those when I get a chance. It was very frustrating and scary. Then last night I came in to hold her, and the nurse told me that later that night (two nights ago now) she had de-satted again (very disappointing) and the nurse was puzzled as to why this was happening, so she called over a Doctor, and when the doctor got over there, it was obvious that that Savannah had taken a massive poop. There was poop coming out of the sides of her diapers! Yuck. Anyway, after her massive poop, she satted fine. So maybe that was the problem.
